The EdgeX Odesa Release

EdgeX Odesa is the 14th open-source community release by the Foundry and continues the trend of reliably producing releases since 2017. It becomes the latest long-term support (LTS) release from the community. The key theme of the release is the availability of new features needed for many industrial deployments and the continued openness and vendor neutrality with respect to the use of third-party open-source components.

Major Release Themes of Odesa

 This latest major update strengthens industrial edge deployments with enhanced security, scalability, and open-source integrity. Key new capabilities include:

• PostgreSQL as the default database to enhance reliability, backup, and recovery
• Time-Based Scheduling to enable precise, time-driven execution of edge processes
• Core-Keeper replaces Consul as the EdgeX configuration and registry service
• OpenBao replaces Vault as the EdgeX secret store
• MQTT replaces Redis PubSub as the EdgeX message bus
• New Python API to expand accessibility for developers, unlocking new AI and automation use cases
