EdgeX Foundry announces appointment of IOTech technical staff to key leadership positions as well as IOTech success in the annual contribution awards
Edinburgh, United Kingdom (20/07/2022) -- IOTech, the edge software company, has announced that its product manager James Butcher has been elected in the key role of chair of the EdgeX Foundry Technical Steering Committee (TSC). In addition, as part of the EdgeX election process, IOTech’s Cloud Tsai and Iain Anderson were elected chairs of the Core Working Group and Device Services Working Group respectively.
It was also announced that Iain Anderson, Senior Software Engineer, has been recognized as a winner of the EdgeX Foundry’s 2022 “Contribution Award.”
“We’re proud of our membership and close relationship with EdgeX Foundry and the leadership our team members have provided to that organization over the years,” said Keith Steele, CEO of IOTech. “The appointments of the new roles and the latest award are well deserved and underline both the talent of our team and our commitment to the advancement of open industrial edge computing solutions.”
The Contribution Award recognizes the individuals who have helped EdgeX Foundry continue its momentum during the past year. This includes those who led work groups, special projects and/or contributed major efforts: code, bug fixes, marketing materials, documentation and other work that advances EdgeX.
Past Contribution Award winners from IOTech include the complete IOTech engineering team (Cloud Tsai, Jack Chen, Lindsey Cheng, Ginny Guan, Wendy Huang, Bruce Huang, Jude Hung, Chris Hung, Felix Ting and Cherry Wang). Previous individual winners include Cloud Tsai and Andrew Foster, while Cloud has also previously won an Innovation Award.
Providing project leadership, James Butcher now serves in the prestigious TSC chair role held previously by IOTech CTO Jim White. Jim has been in the role for the last five years - since the formation of the project. He has led and steered the project, making it one of the most successful open source projects ever. The role provides overall technical leadership to the project and coordination across all of the EdgeX working groups.
