Edge Xpert currently supports ARM (32 and 64 bit) and x86 (64 bit) architectures and is available in the following formats:

  • RPM Package Manager (RPM) for Red Hat, CentOS and similar Linux-based operating systems
  • Debian Software Package (DEB) for Debian Linux-based operating systems

Contents of the Installation

The packages also install additional resouces, such as the following:

  • The edgexpert CLI tool, which is described in detail in the Getting Started section
  • The documentation, which is located at /usr/share/doc/edgexpert
  • Example device profiles, which are located at /usr/share/edgexpert


You must have a license file in the correct location, as described in Licensing. The license defines which microservices can be run.

Installing Edge Xpert

To install Edge Xpert, you must do the following:

Downloading the Edge Xpert Package

When you purchase Edge Xpert, or download the Edge Xpert Evaluation from the IOTech website, you can select the correct version and type of package from those listed.

Once downloaded, you can install the package as described in Installing the Debian Package or Installing the RPM Package.

Installing the Debian Package

To install the Debian package, enter the following command:

sudo dpkg -i edgexpert-<version_number>_amd64.deb

Installing the RPM package

To install the RPM package, enter the following command:

sudo rpm -ivh edgexpert-<version_number>.aarch64.rpm
